A monk asked, "What is the fact of my own nature?"
The master said, "If you put it that way, is there anything you dislike?"
"What is the white ox in the open ground?" - a monk asked.
"You dumb ox." - the master said.
A monk asked, "What about it when I seek to be Buddha?"
The master said, "What a tremendous waste of energy."
The monk said, "What about it when I'm not wasting my energy?"
The master said, "In that case, you are Buddha."
